–more than water–

Wasser is German for water Beer is 95% water. But it is
more than that. We are a locally owned brew pub, but
we hope to be more than that. The Wasser Brewing
Company will dedicate two percent of our profits to the
2% for Teachers program. These funds will be used to
support quality educational projects. The program will
accept grant applications annually from teachers and
institutions anywhere our beer is sold. Our brewery is
named after the German word for water to pay homage
to the German brewing tradition, and to acknowledge
that, like the power of water, we want to positively shape
our community.

–the journey–

Chris Weeks, founder and head brewer, worked as a
teacher in diverse and challenging environments. He
also experienced a great deal of job insecurity teaching
in the Department of Correction and Indianapolis
Public Schools. As a homebrewer, he saw the growth
of the craft beer market and began exploring a career
change in 2012. He interned at the Schlafly Brewery
in St. Louis and completed training with the Siebel
Institute of Technology, the oldest brewing university
in America. He was also mentored by the Indiana Small
Business Development Center and Hometown Visions,
spending several years to transition from teaching to
entrepreneurship and commercial brewing.

–eating an elephant–

We purchased what was known as the Old Napa Building
in 2015. Prior to Napa, the building was a Packard
dealership. We have restored the building to its original
roof line and installed a commercial brewery with a 5
bbl brew house. We have also completely renovated
the inside of the building with new mechanical systems.
In the process we exposed the trusses that span the
interior. The trusses and our wooden tables are two
features of our interior. The Pingleton saw mill made our
tables from native oak and poplar. The renovation of the
building has been extensive. But we’ve learned how you
eat an elephant… one bite at a time!
